Aurora Outdoor Lighting was founded by
Chris Bernardo, LD. His interest in lighting originated in high school
theater projects, and quickly became a serious focus of study. He
received the Shimberg Fine Arts Scholarship at USF in 1987 for stage
lighting and scene design. He subsequently worked in theater and
concert production for a number of years, designing, programming and
operating lighting systems, constructing scenery and implementing
special effects of various types. He has worked in repertory theaters,
dinner theaters, nightclubs, stadiums, churches, television studios and
live, large scale outdoor events.
In 2000, Aurora was born. Chris saw a need for quality outdoor lighting
design for the high end home market, and as outdoor lighting technology
improved, a higher quality product became the standard across the
industry. The study of new landscape lighting products yielded new
possibilities. Current trends in architectural design, the booming home
construction market in Florida, and the nature of the tropical climate
provided a tempting blank canvas for the artistry of lighting.
